WPL 2024 – Mandhana, Perry helps Bangalore win big

Bangalore fans were happy to witness their team finally win on Monday. Smriti Mandhana and her team beat UP Warriorz for the second time this season to breathe new life into their campaign.

UP Warriorz put RCB into bat after winning the toss and going into it with the same team that won the last two games. Bangalore made one change as youngster Shreyanka Patil had to withdraw due to injury and Ekta Bisht made her WPL debut for RCB.

Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry stole the show with the bat and guided the home team to 198 in 20 overs. It was an amazing contribution with the ball as four bowlers picked two wickets each. The win now means RCB are 3rd in the table with 4 points from 5 matches played so far.

UP captain Alyssa Healy has been one of the most consistent batsmen this season of WPL 2024. The right-handed batsman scored 55 runs off 38 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Until she batted, the visitors fancied their chances of matching that mammoth score.

The biggest turning point in the game came when Sophie Molineux let Alyssa Healy trip Richa Ghosh. The young goalkeeper showed the acumen of a veteran as she took down the bails and the referees sent it up. The fans at the Chinnaswamy Stadium celebrated with joy as Healy was given away on the ground.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are now third in the table with 6 points from 5 matches. Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians will play the first match of the leg in Delhi from Tuesday. Both teams are in first and second place in the table and are heading to the next stage of the season.
