The Uttarakhand State Tourism Department has launched a five-day ‘Mount Kailash Darshan from Indian Soil’ pilgrimage where devotees can now have darshan of the sacred Mount Kailash from Old Lipulekh Peak in Uttarakhand.

The first batch of pilgrims from this package embarked on the journey on Gandhi Jayanti and glimpsed the majestic Mount Kailash from Old Lipulekh Peak along with Om Parvat on October 3. The Dhami government has mandated the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam to provide all facilities as required and oversee logistics and other departments.

This 5-day tour package also includes darshan of two other Dhams of Lord Shiva, Adi Kailash and Om Parvat (ॐ), both of which are present in Pithoragarh, helicopter ride from Pithoragarh to Gunji and back with KMVN accommodation or homestay.

The initiative aims to boost tourism in the state while allowing devotees to pay obeisance to Lord Shiva without having to wait for the start of the Kailash Mansarovar season.

Kirti Chandra Arya, Director of Tourism, Pithoragarh, said the package will benefit Shiva devotees worldwide. “This four-day and five-day package costs Rs 80,000 per individual. It includes darshan of Mount Kailash, Mount Adi Kailash and Vyas Valley, Om Parvat and other pilgrimage sites,” said Arya.

He said reservations can be customized, with a maximum of 10 people allowed in a batch. “Pilgrims will be provided with homestay and basic medical facilities after departure from Pithoragarh by helicopter,” he said.
