“When I decided it was going to be my last game, I told my family. Dad was normal. He was relieved, he was happy, everything. Surprisingly, it was my wife. I told her.” that there are too many games, there is too much pressure. I am telling you now that after this game I will not play for my country again.” Even they could not tell me why my tears were flowing. It was not because I felt tired or because I felt this or that that I came to this decision,” he said.
“Am I going to be sad after this? Of course! Does it ever make me feel sad every day? Yes!” Sunil Chhetri added to the video. “Do I feel like I’m going to miss my train with only 20 days of training left? Yes. It’s been going on because the kid inside me never wants to stop getting a chance to play for his country,” Chhetri said.
“I practically lived the dream. Nothing comes close to playing for the country. So the kid kept fighting. But the adults inside knew it was the way it was. It wasn’t easy,” said Sunil Chhetri.

“Every training session I do with the national team, I just enjoy it. I don’t feel the pressure. The game demands pressure. We need three points against Kuwait to qualify for the third round. But in a strange way, I don’t feel the pressure,” he added.
Chhetri played his 150th game for India in March, scoring a goal against Afghanistan in Guwahati. But this match ended with the result 1-2.
After making his debut in 2005, Chhetri scored 94 goals for the country. He will retire as India’s all-time leading run scorer and most capped player. In the ranking of international goal scorers, he ranks third among active players, behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
