Stree 2 inches close to Rs 100 cr, beats Gadar 2’s historic numbers

Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao starrer Stree 2 started its journey at the box office with a bang. The film, which opened in India with a whopping collection of Rs 60.3 crore (including advance payments on Wednesday), surpassed the opening day collections of 2023 blockbusters Animal and Pathan and earned Rs 30 crore on the second day for the film’s total of Rs 90.3 crore net, reported industry tracker Sacnilk Kaushik’s direction today It is all set to cross the Rs 100 crore mark.

The overall Hindi occupancy rate on Friday of the horror comedy was 45.31 per cent, as Wednesday is a working day after the Independence Day holiday Stri 2 had 1175 shows in the Delhi-NCR region with 56.75 per cent occupancy in and Mumbai where the film had 1107 screenings , with an occupancy rate of 43.5 per cent

The film released alongside Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa on Independence Day. Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Main collected Rs 1.9 crore on its second day, taking the total to just Rs 6.95 crore, while John Abraham-starrer Veda, Khel Khel saw a sharp decline, earning Rs 1.6 crore, and took the total to Rs 7.9 crore Apart from Main, regional films like Double iSmart (Telugu), Thanglan (Tamil) and Mr Bachchan (Telugu) were also released on August 15th.

With the weekend extended till Monday, which is the Raksha Bandhan holiday, Stree 2’s opening weekend looks set to be historic. The makers had earlier said that the film earned Rs 76.5 crore on the first day.

Stree 2 has followed last year’s Independence Day release Gadar 2. In the first two days, the Sunny Deol actor earned Rs 83.18 crore, and Stree 2 has surpassed that number.

Stree 2 is part of Dinesh Vision’s horror-comedy universe. Since Stree in 2018, the franchise has added Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Ruhi, Varun Dhawan-starrer Bhediya and Sharwari Wagh-starrer Munjya, Stree 2 being the fifth film in the horror universe.
