In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Indian shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh won India’s second bronze medal in the mixed team 10m air pistol event at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Day 4 of the event.
The dynamic duo displayed exceptional teamwork and precision, earning applause not only from the home fans but also from the international audience. Their performance further cemented India’s growing reputation in the shooting arena.
After winning the match, Bhaker said, “I feel really proud and very grateful… It’s just a blessing. Thanks for all the blessings and love. We can only control what’s in our hands. I talked to my father and considered it and he has decided that we will fight to the last shot.”
Singh said, “It’s a great feeling. It was a tough game but we’re happy to have done it.”
India led 4–2 after the third series and were 8–2 ahead in the fifth. The Indian pair kept their cool and won easily, even after South Korea reduced the score to 10-6 after the eighth set.
It is Sarabjot’s first Olympic medal. Meanwhile, Manu made history as the first Indian woman to win multiple medals at a single Olympics, having earlier secured a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol, marking India’s first medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Bhaker also joined the ranks of just three other Indians – Norman Pritchard (Athletics), Sushil Kumar (Wrestling) and PV Sindhu (Badminton) to win multiple medals for India at the Summer Games. Notably, no Indian has won more medals in a single edition until Bhaker at Paris 2024.
