The Juvenile Justice Board in Pune canceled the bail granted to a 17-year-old man involved in a fatal car accident and sent him to an observation home till June 5 amid public outcry.
On the other hand, the police will also investigate the alleged links of his grandfather Surendra Kumar Agarwal with underworld don Chhota Rajan, who is currently in jail as a convict and under trial in multiple cases.
The two victims of the above accident are Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both aged 24, who work as data analysts at Johnson Controls. Aneesh and Ashwini hailed from Umaria and Jabalpur districts in Madhya Pradesh.
The board’s decision to grant bail to the teenager, issued just hours after the accident that claimed two lives, has drawn widespread criticism. Besides canceling the bail, the board tasked the youth to write a 300-word essay on road accidents.

After police intervention, the board reconsidered its original decision and, citing the seriousness of the crime, allowed the teenager to be treated as an adult accused.
While the police said the JJB on Wednesday evening canceled the bail granted to the minor three days ago, his lawyer claimed that there was no cancellation of the bail However, I just changed my previous order.
The minor, identified as the son of a real estate developer, faces charges under IPC sections 304 (murder not amounting to murder), 304 A (causing death by negligence), 279 (willful driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering human life), 338 ( causing serious injury to health by an act threatening life or personal safety) and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The incident occurred when a Porsche, allegedly driven by a drunk teenager, hit and killed two software engineers riding a motorcycle in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar early on Sunday.
Earlier on Wednesday, the court sent Vishal Agarwal (50), father of the minor and two Hotel Black Club employees Nitesh Shevani and Jayesh Gavkar in police custody till May 24.
Before the incident, the teenager allegedly consumed alcohol at the Black Club Hotel.
