The Indian team has now taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series with the final match to be played in Dharamsala from March 7. Chasing a target of 192, India were reduced to 120-5 in the fourth innings on Monday, but the unbeaten partnership of Gill (52 runs) and Jurel (39 runs) kept them calm on the fifth day of the Test.
England’s young spinner Shoaib Bashir took three wickets as the visitors kept the Indian batting at bay until Gill and Jurel stopped the chase.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma said his team’s young players have filled the shoes of the missing veterans to shine in the toughest format of cricket.
Man of the match Jurel (23), who made his debut in the previous win in Rajkot, turned the match on its head with his 90 after lifting India from 177-7 in their first innings to 307 on day three.
Fast bowler Akash Deep, 27, made an immediate impact on his debut as he rattled England with three wickets on the first day of the Ranchi Test after pace boss Jasprit Bumrah was rested.

England won the first Test of the series in Hyderabad, but India then bounced back and won two matches in Visakhapatnam and Rajkot to decide the series in Ranchi.
The fifth and final Test of this series will begin in Dharamshala on March 7.
