Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6’s release date is set for 2025. The news arrived as part of a reveal trailer stating that Grand Theft Auto 6 is set for a TBC 2025 release – when no further explanation was released.
Before the trailer was revealed, internet sleuths were making some educated guesses. Multiple sources have confirmed the rumor that GTA 6 will be released in 2025, which was part of a larger information drop that suggested Grand Theft Auto 6 would take place in modern Vice City.
Interestingly, Take-Two, the owner of Rockstar, continues to hint that GTA 6 will be released by March 2025, but does not say anything about it. CEO Strauss Zelnick says that “we remain confident that our business is on track for a significant turnaround in fiscal 2025, which we believe will include new record levels of operating performance.” This significant increase in revenue forecasts is likely due to the launch of GTA 6.
So far, GTA 6 has been confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S when it arrives. The news came via an official press release from Take Two stating that: “GTA 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 PC entertainment systems and Xbox Series X|S gaming and entertainment systems in 2025”.
Will GTA 6 be on PS4 and Xbox One?
As revealed in the official press release, GTA 6 is currently only set to arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and won’t be coming to PS4 or Xbox One after its 2025 launch – making it a current-gen exclusive.
What is going on with GTA 6 PC release?
There is currently no mention of a PC release, which could indicate that it will follow a similar path to some of the previous GTA games that came out on consoles first before arriving on PC later.
We wouldn’t hold your breath for a quick follow-up to the PC release either, as according to the former developer, GTA 6 on PC will likely take a while, with PS5 taking priority as Rockstar focuses on “what sells.” This is confirmed by another former developer, who said that GTA 6’s release on PC is unlikely to come “for a long time”.
