Some of the best electricians think outside the box (or wires) while they work every day and at work. Whatever job you’re in, it’s good to learn some new (or old) tips and tricks that will make your job easier.
5 Tips and Tricks for Electricians
1. Bring a strong magnet
When doing internal wiring work behind walls and ceilings, use the Magnets to easily detect metal in household items.
2. Use paper to secure the screwdriver
If you have a screwdriver or spanner, try wrapping a piece of paper over the head of the unit. Then slide the cap into the hole of the screw, you may need to bend the paper to tighten the hole. This trick works best in deep grooves, so try it next time you use a screwdriver or spanner.
3. Use the Tennis Ball to Pull the Cable
While you are pulling the telecommunication, you connect the aircraft wire to the tennis ball and throw the ball wherever you want on the wire.
This hooks the wire onto the rope and pulls it.
4. Use the sling tip
You can use the sling tip to find where to drill the hole. If you’re still measuring from the base to drill a hole in the wall, try this. Take a clothes hanger and cut the end at a 45 degree angle.
Once this is done, you can insert the drill bit and drill a small 45-degree hole in the floor next to the jambs. The result is so small that the host will not notice it.
5. Replace the old bulb with a new one
Before replacing anything, check and measure the circuit for damage. After that, you can use a screwdriver or pliers to clean the debris from the socket.
You can then turn the new eye back and insert it into the slot. This will help remove the broken part of the old bulb that is often harder to spot. You must clean all damaged areas and prepare a socket for a new eye.
