Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Chennai Super Kings pulled off a 7-wicket win over Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday.
After this win, Kolkata are still second in the IPL points table with 6 points and a net run rate of 1.528. While Chennai moved to 5th position with 6 points and a net rate of 0.666.
For CSK, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored an unbeaten 67 runs while Daryl Mitchell (25) and Shivan Dube (28) contributed well. For the Knights, Vaibhav Arora took two wickets while Sunil Narine took one.
However, the highlight of the match was when the fans got a darshan of ‘THALA’ (MS Dhoni) after Shivam Dube bowled Sunil Narine. At that time, CSK needed only 3 runs to win in 18 balls. Dhoni scored 1 run while the target runs were scored by Ruturaj – scoring his first half-century of the IPL season.
After losing the toss, KKR opened the batting but kept losing wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 8 April. They scored 137/9 in 20 overs, giving Ruturaj’s CSK 138 runs to chase. For CSK, Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja picked three wickets each, while Mustafizur Rahman took two wickets and Maheesh Theekshana secured one.
