BSF constable assaulted by miscreants at india-bangladesh border

New Delhi: An Indo-Bangladesh constable was attacked and an attempt was made to drag him across the border, border security forces said on Monday.

Constable Bhole, who was assigned to operate the fence gate, encountered a group of Bangladeshi individuals crossing the border illegally at around 1:30 p.m.

Around 1:30 pm, a large group of Bangladeshi miscreants illegally crossed the border with the intention of smuggling sugar and gathered near the gate, BSF said in a statement.

“Furthermore, they started shouting insults and provoking the BSF constables with provocative words and vulgar gestures,”

According to the authorities, their intention was to smuggle sugar.
The situation escalated when the group began yelling profanities and making provocative gestures toward Officer Buhl. They subsequently assaulted him and tried to drag him to the Bangladeshi side, seizing his gun and radio. Despite managing to escape, Constable Bhole sustained serious injuries from the bamboo poles and iron rods.

Following the incident, a commander-level flag meeting was convened with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) counterparts, where the BSF lodged a formal protest. The gun and radio were returned to the BSF BGB.
