Bihar Man Wins ₹1.5 Cr On Dream11 IPL Fantasy App

Deepu Ojha, a resident of Kohda village in Arrah district of Bihar, got lucky when he bagged an incredible cash prize of 1.5 million rupees last Sunday while playing IPL fantasy games on Dream11 app during the KKR vs RCB IPL match. Despite dropping out of 8th grade and working as a car mechanic at a local garage, Ojha was able to secure victory by selecting Andre Russell as his team captain.

“I felt very good. I can’t believe it. I thought it was a scam and no money would ever come from such applications. I work in a garage. I have been playing fantasy games for the last six months. I had no work on Sunday and I saw that it was match between KKR and RCB, I had little information about the players,” said Ojha.

Still unsure of how to use his newfound wealth, Ojha acknowledged his lack of cricketing knowledge and attributed his victory to chance.

In the IPL match itself, KKR secured a thrilling victory over RCB by just one run. However, the highlight of the match was the controversial dismissal of Virat Kohli for serving a full toss. Using the new Hawk-Eye technology to determine the height of no balls, the TV umpire deemed a waist delivery from KKR’s Harshit Rana to be fair, leading to Kohli’s dismissal.

In a similar incident in 2023, a driver from Madhya Pradesh’s Barwani district, Shahabuddin Mansuri, struck gold by investing just Rs 49 in an online gaming app. During the match between Kolkata and Punjab, he won a whopping Rs 1.5 crore by topping the charts with his virtual cricket team in the Rs 49 app category. Shahabuddin tried his luck in such online cricket games for two years before this remarkable victory.
