Alia Bhatt, Dev Patel feature in Time’s 100 Most Influential List

There is no denying the fact that Alia Bhatt has become a global star in recent years. The actress, who made her Hollywood debut in Heart Of Stone in 2023, has now been named in Time magazine’s 100 most influential people. This is an annual list that the Magazine curates and features distinguished names from various walks of life whose work has impacted the world around the world.

Alia is the only Bollywood actor to make the list, but she is not the only Indian in the list. British Indian-origin actor Dev Patel is also on the list, as is wrestler Sakshi Malik for her fight against sexual harassment in the wrestling federation.

Filmmaker Tom Harper, who worked with Alia Bhatt on Heart Of Stone, wrote a feature for Time praising her, calling her a radiant and international star.

Tom called Alia an ‘awesome talent’. “She’s not just one of the world’s leading actors, admired for her work in the Indian film industry for more than a decade — she’s also a businesswoman and philanthropist who leads with integrity,” he wrote of her, mentioning a scene in the film she famously improvised.

“Alia’s superpower is her ability to mix movie star magnetism with authenticity and sensitivity. As an actress she is radiant and as a person she brings the grounded confidence and creativity that make a truly international star,” he also wrote.

Alia also shared her new success on her Instagram page and thanked Hooper for his words.

For Dev Patel, Get Out and Nope actor Daniel Kaluuya wrote, “Dev oozes goodness. His humanity shines through every time he graces the screen, leaving you with no choice but to root for him even when his character does something despicable; his presence makes you understand where he’s coming from.” The actor also praised Dev’s latest work Monkey Man – a film that Dev directed and starred in.

Other prominent names in the list

The list also includes Dua Lipa, Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Oscar-nominated actors Jeffrey Wright and Colman Domingo. Taraji P Henson, Elliot Page, Michael J. Fox, Sofia Coppola and Hayao Miyazak will also perform.

Athlete Sakshi Malik, whose fight against sexual harassment in wrestling was also recorded by the international press, is also appearing from India.
