Porsche India celebrated the iconic brand’s 75th anniversary with great pride by organizing more than a few events, announcing sales highs and even helping us break a record. The German brand has also launched the facelifted Cayenne, 911 S/T and the all-new Panamera, and plans to add four more cars to its portfolio in 2024. Here’s what to expect and when.
Porsche Macan EV
The Macan EV, the first of Porsche’s legacy nameplates to be electric, will go on sale in India shortly after its global debut. The range-topping all-electric SUV in turbocharged form is expected to get a 100kWh battery with two motors (one on each axle) producing a combined 612bhp and 1,000Nm. Interestingly, the Macan EV was designed to be rear-biased.
Porsche claims the Macan EV can be charged at up to 270kW, meaning the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in less than 22 minutes. Expect the Macan EV to have typical Porsche features such as a raised look under the headlights; the split headlights are also likely to be similar to those seen on the Taycan. Even those who have seen the updated Cayenne and the new Panamera should know the interior – the dashboard is dominated by the presence of three displays. There’s a 12.6-inch instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch central touchscreen and an optional 10.9-inch passenger screen.
Porsche Panamera GTS
The new V8 Panamera GTS is expected to arrive in India next year. While the third generation Panamera was launched in India in November 2023 with only a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine, Porsche will add a high-performance GTS version to its portfolio with a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine.
Compared to the standard Panamera, it will have a sportier design, aerodynamic and interior upgrades and will cost more than 2 million rupees as it goes up against the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S e-Performance four-door coupe.
Porsche Cayenne, Cayenne coupe GTS
The recently refreshed Cayenne and Cayenne Coupe will also receive sportier GTS variants with the usual performance and aesthetic tweaks, along with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that’s said to produce more than 500 horsepower. Expect the Cayenne GTS and Cayenne Coupe GTS to launch in India around the same time as the Panamera GTS.
Porsche Taycan facelift, Taycan Cross Turismo facelift
Porsche’s electric four-door and its beefier estate counterpart are set to receive mid-life updates to bring them in line with newer Porsche models. The Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo’s current 79.2kWh, 83.7kWh and 93.4kWh battery options are expected to continue with slight increases in range and power – outputs currently range from 326 to 625hp. Expect facelifts for The Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo will be launched in late 2024; the former will continue to compete with the Audi e-tron GT.
Porsche 911 facelift
Although the updated 911 will make its debut in India next year, pricing for the facelift will not be revealed until 2025. The new 992.2 will feature minimal styling tweaks such as a new bumper with larger air intakes and redesigned headlights.
While the lower-spec Carrera is expected to continue with the 3.0-liter flat-six, international markets are likely to get a hybrid version as well; in top form, the 911 Turbo S Hybrid is expected to be powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharger and a 136-horsepower electric motor. The brand is yet to reveal which versions of the facelifted 911 will come to India to take on the likes of the new Mercedes-AMG GT and the Jaguar F-Type V8.
