Nagavara Ramaroa Narayana Murthy, better known as NRN or Narayana Murthy, co-founder of Infosys Technologies, is known as the father of the Indian IT industry. He was born on 20 August 1946 in Kolar district of Karnataka. He played an important role in promoting Infosys and cementing its place in the IT world. His passion, values and principles are very simple and realistic.
NRN represents simple living and good thinking. Murthy was named one of the Top 12 Entrepreneurs by Fortune magazine. He has been with Infosys for a long time and continues to lead Infosys with the same passion he showed when he founded the company.
Early Life Narayana Murthy
Born in Kolar Siddhaghatta in Karnataka, after completing his education, he studied engineering at the National Institute of Engineering and graduated with honors in electrical engineering in 1967. In 1969, he received his master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
After graduation, he moved to London and worked at a company called SESA for 3 years. While working with SESA, he specialized in the development of air traffic control software for Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. Meanwhile, he decided to return to India and establish his own company.
Career – A humble beginning
Joined IIM Ahmedabad as Director in 1976. He started a small IT software company in Pune but it failed and he later joined Patni Computer Systems. Failure in starting a business is like learning for him. That’s when he met his soulmate, Sudha Murty, who helped him invest in the company he wanted to start.
A New Beginning
Finally, in 1981, Infosys was founded and his life began to change. Along with him, six other software experts founded Infosys. Infosys is thriving in the IT industry due to the guidance and hard work of professionals and NRNs. Even after retiring after working for the company for many years, NRN is still part of the organization as a mentor. His results and recommendations have always made Infosys strong in the IT space. His personal involvement in the IT field has earned him many recognitions and accolades.
Narayana Murthy – CEO, Infosys
He served as CEO of Infosys from 1981 to 2002. He played a key role in leading the outsourced IT industry to introduce a global delivery model now used by many other IT giants. His clear vision and hard work have always taken Infosys to greater heights. Infosys holds a dominant position in the IT industry with over 80,000 employees and a long list of loyal and satisfied customers. He served as the CEO of Infosys between 2002 and 2011, and after a break, he continued his role as an Infosys mentor.
Personal Life
NRN As well as being the successful chairman of IT giant Infosys, his personal life is also famous. The backbone of his success is his wife Sudha Murthy. She is a character of social awareness and women empowerment. His life partner in nature works with Infosys. They have two children, Rohan and Akshata Murthy, both of them are well off and living in places of their choice.
