Indore on Sunday set a new Guinness World Record for ‘most trees planted by a team in 24 hours’ by planting more than 1.1 million saplings.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that Indore, already the cleanest city in India and the economic capital of Madhya Pradesh, has now achieved a world record of planting more than 1.1 million saplings in a single day. The program was organized by the state government.
“Indore is now No. 1 in the world. My brothers and sisters Indore, congratulations to all of you for creating history in a clean plantation,” Yadav said in a post on his official X account while sharing the Guinness World Records certificate and pictures. about its acceptance.
Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign and planted a sapling.
Recognized as the country’s cleanest city by Swachh Survekshan for several years, Indore will see 51,000 saplings planted during this campaign, officials said.
The plantation drive was conducted at BSF Academy’s Reati Range, which was divided into nine zones and 100 sub-zones.

Officials said that apart from 2,000 BSF jawans, more than 100 NRIs, NCC cadets from 50 schools, a large number of citizens and members of various social organizations participated in this plantation drive.
According to the Guinness World Records website, the previous record for the most saplings planted in 24 hours was 9,21,730. This record was achieved on 13-14 September 2023 by the Forest Department of the Government of Assam (India) at Udalguri.
Shah said that apart from long-lived trees like Banyan, Neem and Peepal, trees with medicinal properties like Guava, Madhukamini, Karonda, Belpatra and Amla have also been planted.
