India’s stunning all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Sunday announced his retirement from T20 Internationals, joining his illustrious teammates Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in bidding farewell to the format a day after winning the World Cup here.
India beat South Africa by seven runs in the final on Saturday to clinch their second T20 World Cup title.
The triumph was followed by star batsman Kohli and captain Rohit announcing their retirement from T20Is, calling it the perfect time to hand over the baton to a younger set of players.
It was Jadeja’s turn on Sunday and the 35-year-old announced his retirement from T20Is on Instagram. He will continue to play ODIs and Tests.

Kohli was the first to announce his decision after being adjudged man of the match for his stunning 76 in the seven-run win over South Africa in the final here. Soon after, Rohit also announced that having achieved what he came for, it was time to step down.
“This was my last World Cup T20 and that’s exactly what we wanted to achieve. It’s an amazing game. When we went out to bat, I was saying to Rohit (Sharma), I was thinking one day you feel like you can’t run out and then you get out and then things happen, God is great,” Kohli, 35, told host TV Star Sports after winning the man of the match award. “I bow my head in gratitude. I’m really grateful to have been able to do the job for the team on the day it mattered the most,” he added.
Rohit, whose fiery 41-ball 92 against Australia in the Super 8s will be remembered for years to come, chose the post-match press conference to issue a statement.
“This was also my last match. There’s no better time to say goodbye. I wanted this (trophy) so badly.
