According to the FIR, a case of attempted murder and theft has been registered against three army lieutenant colonels and 13 others for their alleged involvement in the violent attack on the Kupwara police station.
The incident on the night of May 28-29 was reportedly triggered by the interrogation of a Territorial Army jawan by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in connection with an alleged drug case.
A group of armed and uniformed personnel from the 160 Territorial Army, accompanied by senior Indian Army officials, stormed the police station.

According to the FIR, an armed group led by army lieutenant colonels Ankit Sood, Rajiv Chauhan and Nikhil forcibly entered the police station premises.

The situation escalated further when the army personnel brandished weapons, confiscated mobile phones from the injured policemen and even kidnapped a police constable before fleeing the spot, the FIR said.
