A 5.3 magnitude earthquake hit Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh. The earthquake occurred on April 4, 2024 at 21:34:32 IST at a depth of 10 km. Frightened by the tremors, people ran out of their homes and offices for their lives, but there are currently no reports of loss of life or property.

Tremors were felt in parts of northern India. The earthquake struck at 9:34 p.m., the National Seismological Center said.

It is noteworthy that almost 119 years ago, on April 4, 1905, a devastating earthquake occurred that killed thousands of people.

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit Japan

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the northern coast of Japan’s Honshu on Thursday morning, the National Seismological Center said. The depth of the earthquake was 55 km which hit Japan at 8:46 AM IST.

No casualties were reported in the incident. This comes after Japan downgraded its tsunami warning to a tsunami warning following a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Taiwan a day earlier.

The strongest earthquake to hit Taiwan in nearly a quarter of a century has left nine dead, with 143 people still trapped in the rubble and more than 1,000 injured, the island nation’s Central News Agency (CNA) said, citing local and central authorities.
