Shaitaan is all set to release this weekend. The film stars Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan and Jyotika in lead roles. Before the film’s release, it was revealed that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had certified U/A, but not without a few changes. According to reports, Shaitaan received four edits and one cut. For the uninitiated, Shaitaan is a remake of a Gujarati film called Vash.
The trailer hinted that Shaitaan revolves around black magic. As reported by Bollywood Hungama, the censor board asked to add a commentary with a disclaimer that “the film does not endorse/endorse black magic”. Director Vikas Bahl was also asked to replace the offending word with a scream. It was also reported that Shaitaan received one cut.
In the gory scene, the CBFC asked the makers to reduce the image of blood coming out of the mouth by 25%. The film was also asked to add a message about alcohol consumption. With these changes, Shaitaan’s runtime was revealed to be 132 minutes.
Shaitaan features R Madhavan as the antagonist and Jyothika as Devgn’s wife. During the trailer launch, Ajay and Madhavan were asked if they were considering switching roles. Ajay admitted that he would not want to play a negative role as he most connected to the emotions of a helpless father in the film.
Directed by Vikas Bahl, the film also stars Janki Bodiwala in a pivotal role. Shaitaan is produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak and the music director is Amit Trivedi.
Shaitaan is set to release on March 8.
