Iran on Tuesday announced a visa-free program for Indians entering the country by air for tourism for a maximum period of 15 days.

Visa-free entry was introduced for Indian citizens from February 4 subject to fulfillment of four conditions, the Iranian embassy said.

In December, Iran approved a new visa-free program for India and 32 other countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia.

The Iranian figure said that individuals holding ordinary passports will be allowed to enter the country without a visa once every six months, with a maximum stay of 15 days.

Visa-free entry is for tourist purposes only, meaning that those traveling for business or educational reasons must still obtain a visa for the appropriate categories. It is important to note that these policies only apply to air travelers; Indian citizens wishing to travel to Iran by road must secure a visa in advance.
