India won the second Test by 106 runs at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam to level the series 1-1.
A determined India attack denied England a record chase of 399 as they sealed 106 runs on the fourth day of the second Test in Vizag to level the five-match series at 1-1.
Zak Crawley (73) anchored much of England’s innings and smashed his second half-century of the match, but most of the middle order were out in their twenties as India’s target proved beyond the tourists’ reach.
Ravichandran Ashwin (3-72) and Jasprit Bumrah (3-46) were the pick of the bowlers for India as England eventually posted 292.
England’s hopes of another impressive victory were all but gone when their skipper Ben Stokes (11) ran out Shreyas Iyer after a devastating lunchtime double strike that saw Crawley and Jonny Bairstow (26) removed back-to-back. overs.
Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley provided some resistance lower down the order with their 55-run partnership, the highest of England’s second innings, but were eventually undone by Bumrah as both fell for 36.

England still needed 118 runs when last man James Anderson (5) came out to bat, but Bumrah wrapped up victory for India two overs later with a spin that crushed Hartley’s off-stump to give him his ninth wicket of the match.
Bumrah’s 9-91 gave him the man-of-the-match advantage ahead of young spinner Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 209 of India’s first innings total of 396 to seal victory.
