According to event organizers, after 28 years, India will host the 71st Miss World pageant, which will be telecast and telecast across the world. The competition was last held in 1996 in Bengaluru.
Julia Morley CBE, Chair of Miss World, expressed her excitement at hosting the event in India, highlighting it as a celebration of beauty, diversity and empowerment.
The stunning Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai, the picturesque venue of the G-20, and the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi will host this year’s Miss World. With participants from 120 nations, India is represented by Femina Miss India World 2022 Sini Shetty.
The Miss World competitions include World Top Designer Award, Miss World Top Model, Miss World Sports Challenge, Miss World Talent Final, Multi-Media Challenge and Head to Head Challenge Final. The Continental Beauty With A Purpose Challenge and the grand Miss World Red Carpet Special will add glamor to this extraordinary event.
India last hosted the Miss World pageant in 1996 in Bengaluru. Historical significance of Indian women in the pageant includes Reita Faria Powell, who became the first Indian to win the Miss World crown in 1966.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan secured the title in 1994, followed by Diana Hayden in 1997, Yukta Mookhey in 1999 and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in 2000. Manushi Chhillar continued the tradition by winning the Miss World crown in 2017.
Karolina Bielawska of Poland, the reigning Miss World, will hand over the crown to her successor at the upcoming event. The 71st Miss World pageant is scheduled to be held between February 18 and March 9 at various venues including the G-20 venue, Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi and the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai.
