Swachh Survekshan Awards 2023 name Indore, Surat cleanest cities in India

Indore and Surat have been named the “cleanest cities” in the country, while Navi Mumbai has retained its third position in the central government’s annual cleanliness survey, the results of which were announced today (January 11).

In the ‘Best States’ category in the ‘Swachh Survekshan Awards 2023’, Maharashtra topped the list, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Indore won the title of the cleanest city for the seventh time in a row.

President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards to the winners at a function held in the state capital. Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and others attended the event.

Award for the cleanest city:

Varanasi is the best and cleanest city on the Ganges, followed by Prayagraj.

Mhow Cantonment Board in Madhya Pradesh has the highest ranking in the cleanest cantonment board category.

According to the data, 4,447 urban local bodies participated in Swachh Survekshan 2023 and 12 responses were received from chief citizens. The government claims it is the world’s largest cleanliness survey.

Madhya Pradesh Awards at Swachh Survekshan Award Ceremony:

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav received the award from Indian President Droupadi Murma at the Swachh Survekshan Award 2023 ceremony held in New Delhi on Thursday.

CM Yadav also felicitated on the occasion and appealed to the people to never let their passion for cleanliness wane.

Meanwhile, Hygienists in Indore also started celebrations at the Municipal Corporation office in the city. An LED screen was also placed in the office premises of the Municipal Office to watch the live broadcast of this award ceremony.

As soon as Indore’s name was announced, the paramedics jumped for joy and started drumming. This time, Indore shared the title of cleanest city with Surat, a city in Gujarat.

Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi and Prayagraj bagged the first and second place in the ‘Ganga City’ category of the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2023.

Reacting to the achievement, Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister AK Sharma congratulated the administration and sanitation workers.
