One of the 22 Indian crew members aboard a cargo ship that collided with a bridge in Baltimore suffered “minor injuries” while the others on board were unharmed, owners of the Singapore-flagged ship said on Wednesday.
The 1.6-mile four-lane Francis Scott Key Bridge over the Patapsco River in Baltimore collapsed after the 984-foot freighter Dali struck it early Tuesday.
The name and other details of the crew have not been released.
Authorities from the US Coast Guard and the National Transportation Safety Board boarded the ship to investigate.
Synergy said in a statement on Tuesday after the accident that Dali’s crew was all Indian, 22 in total.
All crew members, including the two pilots, were accounted for and no injuries are reported. There was also no pollution, Synergy said.

Synergy and Grace Ocean noted that the incident unfortunately also affected those on the bridge at the time.

Authorities also said an initial call from the vessel’s crew allowed officials to stop vehicular traffic from entering the bridge, which undoubtedly saved many more lives. Construction workers were repairing the hole on the bridge when the accident happened. Two people were rescued from the water, but six construction workers are still missing.
In remarks at the White House, President Biden said personnel aboard the ship were able to alert the Maryland Department of Transportation that they had lost control of their vessel. As a result, local authorities managed to close the bridge to traffic in front of the bridge. he was hit, which undoubtedly saved lives.
The vessel is owned by Grace Ocean Private Limited and sails from Baltimore to Colombo with a capacity of 10,000 TEU and a total capacity of 4,679 TEU. The carrying capacity of this vessel is 116851 DWT.
